What counts as an active payment plan
An active payment plan is an order that still has a balance to collect. The moment it is paid in full, cancelled or refunded it stops counting, so the number goes up and down with your order book rather than only ever up. A store on Starter can have 30 orders waiting for their balance at any one time and unlimited orders over the year.
If you hit your plan's limit, deposit options are hidden on the storefront until an order finishes or you upgrade. Balances on existing orders are always collected, on every plan, whatever your usage.
What every plan includes
- Deposits as a percentage or a fixed amount on products, collections or tags
- Automatic balance collection from the saved card, or a Shopify pay link where the provider cannot charge a card later
- Payment schedule emails, three-day reminders, receipts, failed-payment and overdue notices
- Fulfilment hold until paid, order tags and an order note with the schedule
- A customer payment page with pay now
- Retries after 1, 3 and 7 days, then an overdue flag and an alert to you
- Support by email within one working day
Text messages
Growth includes 100 texts a month and Pro 500, sent from a sender name based on your store name. Texts go to the customer for the schedule, the reminder, the receipt and any failed payment. Top-ups of 100 or 500 texts are one-off purchases that never expire and are used after the monthly allowance. Unused monthly texts do not roll over.
Trials, changes and cancelling
Paid plans start with a 14-day free trial. Upgrade or downgrade at any time from inside the app; Shopify prorates the change on your next bill. Cancel from inside the app or by uninstalling. Your data stays in place until Shopify asks us to delete it, 48 hours after uninstall, so a reinstall picks up where you left off.
Shopify deposit app pricing questions
How much does a Shopify deposit app cost?
Deposit apps are priced in two ways: a flat monthly plan, or a monthly plan plus a percentage of every deposit order. Balance Due is flat only: free for up to 3 open payment plans, then £19.99, £49.99 or £99.99 a month, with no percentage or per-order fee on any plan.
Is there a percentage fee on deposit orders?
No. Some deposit apps charge 1% or more of every order on top of the subscription, and a few charge it on manual orders too. Balance Due is a flat monthly price and nothing else. See how it compares with other deposit apps.
What happens to my orders if I downgrade to Free?
Every open plan keeps collecting its balance. The Free limit only affects whether new deposit orders can be placed. Instalment schedules created on Growth or Pro keep running as they were set up.
Do I pay through Shopify?
Yes. Plans and text top-ups are charged by Shopify on your normal Shopify bill, in GBP, every 30 days.
Are there any setup or onboarding fees?
No. There is no setup fee, no onboarding fee and no minimum term. You pay the monthly plan you choose and can change or cancel it at any time from inside the app.
Which plan do I need for instalments?
Growth or Pro, on a Shopify Plus store. Shopify only allows partial charges against a saved card on Plus, so on other Shopify plans the balance is collected as one payment whatever Balance Due tier you are on. More on how instalments work.
Can I try a paid plan without adding a card?
Yes. Billing runs through your Shopify account, so there is no separate card to add. Start the 14-day trial from inside the app; nothing is charged until the trial ends, and only if you keep the plan.
Start on Free, upgrade when the orders arrive
Three open payment plans on Free is enough to run a real order end to end before you pay anything.
