Privacy policy

What the app collects

• Shop details: store name, myshopify domain, email, currency and time zone, and the settings you choose in the app.
• Order data for deposit orders only: order number, totals, outstanding amount, line items with a deposit plan, payment schedule and payment status.
• Customer contact details on those orders: name, email and phone number, used solely to send the payment messages you enable.
• Never card numbers. Saved cards live with Shopify and your payment provider; Balance Due only holds Shopify's reference to them.

Why we use it

To create purchase options on your products, to collect balances when they are due, to send schedules, reminders, receipts and overdue notices, to show you what is owed, and to answer support requests. We do not sell data or use it for advertising.

Where it is stored

Data is stored on Google Cloud in the London region (europe-west2) in Firestore and is encrypted at rest and in transit.

Who we share it with

• Shopify, to read orders and instruct payments through its API.
• SendGrid, to send the emails the app sends on your behalf.
• Our SMS provider, to send the texts you enable, using the customer's phone number and the message text only.
• Nobody else, unless the law requires it.

How long we keep it

For as long as the app is installed. When you uninstall, Shopify sends a removal request 48 hours later and we delete the store's data then. Customer deletion requests received through Shopify are actioned by removing the customer's contact details from their orders. Aggregated, non-identifying statistics may be kept.

Customers' rights

If you are a shopper, the store you bought from is the controller of your order data and Balance Due processes it for them; contact the store first. You can also write to privacy@balance-due.com and we will help or pass the request on.

This website

balance-due.com sets no cookies of its own and runs no advertising or analytics trackers. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts. The contact form stores what you type in it, with your browser's user-agent string, so we can reply.
